As some states and territories announce the easing of COVID-19 restrictions for gyms and indoor fitness centres, recent research conducted by Social Media Guide reveals when people may plan to return.
The study of over 600 respondents from across Australia conducted between 3-10 May 2020 covers 45 activities and destination types ranging from retail, fitness, bars and clubs, through to sporting events and places of worship.
A total of 35% of respondents from across all age groups indicated that they had attended fitness (eg. Gym, classes, bootcamp) related activities over the past 12 months. Slightly less, 33% of respondents, said they planned to attend fitness (eg. Gym, classes, bootcamp) within the next 12 months.
Although 2% less respondents planned to attend fitness within the next 12 months, more than 63% of those respondents planned to do so within the first month following gyms reopening. Even more pleasing for businesses in the fitness industry is 85% plan to return within 3 months of restrictions easing.
