Although crowds flocked back to shopping centres in some States and Territories, not all sectors will see patrons return as quickly. Bars, community clubs, and dine-in for restaurants and cafes are likely to see a much slower return.
This is according to the findings of a survey conducted by Social Media Guide. The study of over 600 respondents from across Australia conducted between 3-10 May 2020 covers 45 activities and destination types ranging from retail, fitness, bars and clubs, through to sporting events and places of worship.
The preliminary findings of the research are available for FREE to all businesses and organisatons. Information in the reports may help to better prepare or target particular market segments when your business or organisation returns as the easing of COVID-19 restrictions begins.
The research findings reveal that 72% of respondents planned to return to major shopping centres within a month of the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and this was supported by the activity seen in many States and Territories over the weekend.
